Everything you need to know for Float Fest Austin 2026

Is the event really free?

Absolutely. Float Fest is completely free to attend. Just show up, bring your gear, and enjoy the day.

Who can attend?

This is a family-friendly event! Kids are welcome under adult supervision. Come solo, bring friends, bring family. This is a community event open to all.

Can I bring my dog?

Yes. Dogs are welcome, especially if they love the water.

Where exactly on Lady Bird Lake will the event take place?

Float Fest will take place on Lady Bird Lake near Lou Neff Point, where Barton Springs meets the lake. Look for a large group gathered on the water. You won’t miss it. This spot is often called “Paddle Board Island,” even though it’s not an actual island.

What should I bring?

-Your favorite floatation device (paddleboard, kayak, raft, tube, etc.)

-Life vest (safety first!)

-Sunscreen, hat, sunglasses

-Water & snacks

-Good energy & a smile!

Is there a schedule or is it come and go?

It’s come and go. Drop in when you want, stay as long as you like.

Where should I park?

Closest parking: Zilker Park offers the most convenient parking, with easy access to the water.

Where can I launch on the water?

If you’re bringing your own paddleboard, kayak, or float, the Austin High Public Boat Launch is a great place to put in. From there, paddle toward the Float Fest group near Lou Neff Point.
